Kayaking amongst the waves
One water activity that's particularly
“Hawaiian” is kayaking in the ocean. This isn’t like the kayaking you've seen on
TV and such; this is ocean kayaking, which provides you an altogether different
experience. Fishermen of old took to the ocean in Kayaks to provide for their
families and villages, and now you can get a taste of what that experience was
like.
So what makes ocean kayaking different?
Both your surroundings and the
Kayaks themselves are different. Instead of rapids or smooth freshwater lakes,
you will navigate wave-filled oceans like Hawaiian fishermen of old. Also, ocean
kayaks are typically bigger than other kayaks (which is needed to provide a
stable ride in the waves). Nowadays, they are usually made of tough
polyethylene plastics, and are designed with backrests for both your comfort and
craft stability.
You can get a single-seat Kayak if you'd
prefer to ride alone, but many people go for the two-seat versions. No matter
your preference, the warm tropical waters will welcome you.
On your
exciting journey, you are very likely to view sea turtles, eels, dolphins, and
tidal pools full of fish.
