Island Breeze Luau Productions
Island Breeze Luau on the Big Island of
Hawaii is not just any luau! Winner of the “Best of West Hawaii” award, this
production is rated as the best luau on Hawaii that preserves the dignity and
authenticity of ancient music, dance, and culture of Polynesia. The setting of the luau is unique as it is
held under the stars on the beachfront grounds of the former estate of The King
Kamehameha at Kamakahonu Bay in Kona, Hawaii. King Kamehameha united the
islands by conquering each one in the 1800s and made this location his home and
headquarters. The location of the Island Breeze Luau at King Kamehameha’s Kona
Beach Hotel is where he ruled the chain of Hawaiian Islands. Adjacent to the
Island Breeze Luau grounds you will find the Ahu’ena, which was the personal
heiau (ancient sacred temple) to King Kamehameha and is now his final resting
place. The temple was a place King Kamehameha worshiped and prayed to his God and
met with his advisers for advice. The historical site has been articulately
restored and is open to the public. You can enjoy the Island Breeze Luau in
Kailua, Kona, Hawaii Activities, or any Kona Luaus with Hawaii Travel Network.
The
stunning backdrop and surroundings are one of the many reasons Island Breeze
Luau is so popular and a favorite to many kama`aina (locals). Enjoy a spectacular sunset while you gaze at
the fishing boats and outrigger canoes as they pass by with the night-lights
sparkling off the shores of Kona and Mount Hualalai. Each evening our guests
enjoy an authentic Hawaiian cultural experience with the Island Breeze Luau and
the Island Breeze Polynesian Revue.
Upon
arrival you will receive a warm “aloha” greeting as a shell lei is placed
around your neck with the opportunity to have a memory created with a photo
including one of luau’s Fire Dancers and Hula Dancers. Enjoy all you can drink
beverages and Mai Tais as you start your luau adventure with an exploration of
ancient Polynesian arts and crafts as the natives demonstrate their talents and
skills. Take a moment to learn the basic moves of the hula and watch how quickly
a native can open a coconut. Meet the local talented entertainers that will
perform for you on stage during the luau. Look to the Kamakahou bay as the
Royal Court procession representing King Kamehameha and his Queen as they
arrive adorned wearing ceremonial clothing, while riding on a traditional
outrigger canoe. Follow the procession to the Royal Grounds and watch the “Imu”
ceremony, the unearthing of the moist roasted pig from an underground oven.
The
Island Breeze Luau is renowned for its delectable Hawaiian cuisine and royal
treatment to our guests. The Island Breeze Luau menu consists of Kalua pig,
lomi lomi salmon, cucumber namasu, Hawaiian pineapple, cinnamon-spiced bananas,
poi, banana bread, vegetables wrapped in taro leaves, coconut cake, coconut
pudding, Kona coffee, tropical fruit punch, and more. Come with a hearty
appetite and try new Hawaiian dishes at the Island Breeze Luau. Arrive early
because our guest will be seated on a basis of first-come first-served.
Upgrades may be requested and you will bypass the standard seating line formed
at the gate and you will be first in line when the buffet is served.
The
Island Breeze Polynesian Revue is the highlight of the luau! This stunning
performance provides spectacular dances from the Maori and Fiji dances of war
to the lovely art of hula hands. With the extraordinary Samoan Fire dance you
may find yourself sitting on the edge of your seat! Island Breeze Luau was the
only cultural group to be invited to perform at the 1996 Olympics held in
Atlanta, Georgia. Island Breeze Polynesian Luau has talented entertainers
dedicated to preserving history, culture, and the value of diversity.
